MARCH 2015 MEETING
The Federal Executive of the Australian Dental Association Inc.
(ADA) met in Brisbane on 23 and 24 March 2015 immediately
prior to the Australian Dental Congress.
The major items covered during the meeting included the following:
A valuation of the ADA premises in St Leonards was received
indicating a valuation of $6.3M. In view of this valuation a number
of options were considered in relation to the future use of the
property and a further report will be provided to Federal Council
in relation to this. Appropriate adjustments will be made to the
ADA’s Balance Sheet to reflect the revised valuation.
The Treasurer’s report as to the financial position of the Association
was received and accepted. Recommendations will be made
to Federal Council that the remuneration of Federal Executive
members be adjusted by the NSW CPI. This adjustment will be
effective from 1 January 2015.
Advice was received from Hillross Portfolio in relation to variation
of investment strategies. These recommendations were considered
and will be adopted. A draft budget for 2015/2016 was received.
A number of adjustments to the proposed budget were made
that included reduction in the provision made for staff salaries,
IT expenses, continuing professional development expenses and
special projects. Recommendations will now be made to Federal
Council to adopt the budget along with recommendations in
relation to revised federal subscription rates.
Federal Executive has been considering what might be done for
members who have had over 50 years’ continuous standing
as members. It has resolved that in view of their loyalty to the
Association a ‘Certificate of Recognition’ will be provided to such
members which will in turn be presented at various Branch functions.
It was decided that for the 2016 edition of the Australian Dental
Association Directory, members will now be required to ‘opt out’ of
an entry in that Directory. In the previous editions of the Directory,
members have been required to ‘opt in’ to have their details
included. This will now be reversed requiring all members to indicate
if they do not wish to be included in the Directory. In addition
to this notification, suitable notifications of this alteration in the
creation of the Directory will be published elsewhere. If you do not
wish your details included in the ADA Directory, let the office know.
