News Bulletin : ADA News Bulletin August 2010
Manage Your Continuing Professional Development The ADA website now has a facility whereby members can record and maintain all their own CPD activities. From the members' home page, simply click on 'Edit my Profile' on the left-hand menu. From this section, members can update their own personal details as well as record their CPD activities under the 'Manage CPD' tab. From 1 July 2010, a new national registration scheme for dentists operates across Australia. The Dental Board of Australia has developed registration standards which set out new obligations for dentists. As part of these obligations, all dental practitioners in Australia will have to meet the CPD requirements set by the Dental Board of Australia's Registration Standard. The CPD Registration Standard requires all dental practitioners to complete a minimum of 60 hours of CPD activities over three years and the new national CPD cycle which began on 1 July 2010 and the renewal requirements under the National Law will apply only to the CPD hours generated after this date. The Board expects that dental practitioners will gradually accumulate CPD hours over the new three-year cycle. The 60 hours of CPD undertaken from 1 July 2010 should consist of 80% clinically or scientifically based and 20% non-scientific CPD. All dental practitioners must maintain their own records detailing their CPD activities for audit purposes and will produce evidence of their CPD activities when requested to do so by the Board. ADA members are encouraged to take advantage of the new facility now available on the ADA website to record and maintain their CPD activities. For further enquiries regarding assistance with recording your CPD activities on the ADA website, please contact the Marketing Team on 02 9906 4412.
