Dr Robert Gan recently organised the volunteer visit to Mongolia in October 2010. The team consisted of four dentists, four dental assistants and three support staff from Australian Health Management and the Australian Dental Association. A one-day hands-on clinical team workshop was presented at the Mongolian School of Dentistry and attended by 160 participants. Two repeat workshops were then held at Arono Dental Clinic. Following the workshops the Australian team toured a number of rural areas to check and provide emergency treatment for nomadic tribespersons. Thanks are extended to the many private dentists, dental supply houses and individuals who kindly donated dental materials, hand instruments, amalgamators, curing lights, and lots of dental disposables, in response to our appeal for help for this Mongolian project. The GC dental company provided the saliva-testing kits, tooth mousse, and teaching aids. Further details of this visit are posted on the ADA Inc. Volunteers website.
