15 MAY 2011 no false advice Please contact Garry Pammer, Alison Lacey or Heath Stewart on: Telephone (02) 9264 1111 Fax (02) 9264 1344 email firstname.lastname@example.org website clarkjacobs.com.au Dental specialists for over 20 years Members will be aware from reading previous issues of the ADA News Bulletin that Federal Council conducted a Strategy Development Weekend in October last year. Following on from this weekend, reference has also been made in recent articles to the work undertaken by ADA Federal Executive and the ADA Secretariat in further developing and formulating the ADA's Strategic Plan. At the April 2011 meeting of Federal Council, the result of this work was presented to Council for consideration. Subsequently, Federal Council approved and adopted the new Strategic Plan for your ADA. The Vision, Values, Key Result Areas and Key Objectives of the Association have been condensed into a two-page document which summarises what it is that the ADA wants to achieve over the next few years. ADA VISION ADOPTED BY FEDERAL COUNCIL The Australian Dental Association aims to be the recognised leader and voice in oral health. The Association's values will be focused on six areas: • Collegiality • Transparency • Incisiveness • Professionalism • Excellence • Forward Thinking Key Result Areas and Key Objectives have been identified and listed in the Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan is reproduced on pages 16 and 17 of this issue. Members are encouraged to review this document and to provide feedback. The creation of this Strategic Plan will enable the ADA to actively seek to pursue the Key Objectives listed. Provision of the Key Result Areas will enable Federal Council, Federal Executive, Committees and the ADA Secretariat to concentrate on the pursuit and achievement of these key goals. Reports from the most recent Federal Executive and Federal Council meetings (see pages 6 and 14) show the ADA has already taken steps to meet the developed strategy. Members will see that in seeking to provide Excellence and Professionalism for members the ADA has invested heavily in the provision of a digital media library. While this will cost over $650,000 per annum, in an environment that now requires members to undertake 60 hours of CPD per three year cycle, it will provide members with 10 hours of new premium quality CPD material each year: that will be 10 hours of CPD at approximately $55 pa per member. The ADA Online National Library has been enhanced as have the Dental Files. The ADA Secretariat has undertaken a staff restructure, with the hiring of specialist staff that will better address the targets of being 'the recognised leader and voice' in dentistry in Australia. Creation of the Strategic Plan is only the first step in the ADA further developing as the recognised leader and voice in oral health. The ADA will now proceed to identify how it can best service its members. Review of its internal structure, communications with members and Branches and service delivery models will be examined in light of the Key Result areas and Objectives. As mentioned in the Federal Council report, Council will be undertaking a further Strategy implementation meeting in October. Further reports on progress will be published on the ADA website and in the News Bulletin. Robert Boyd-Boland Chief Executive Officer STRATEGIC PLAN developed for ADA Inc.
