News Bulletin : ADA News Bulletin August 2011
21 AUGUST 2011 To service increasing demand the ADAInteract–CPD webinars have increased in frequency from a bimonthly series to a monthly event in order to provide members in rural and remote areas with access to CPD opportunities without the need to travel excessive distances. The tangible benefit of these rural and remote seminars is that they are live and collaborative sessions. The growing popularity of this member service has prompted the increased frequency of delivery and attests to the hypothesis that members are inclined to take advantage of CPD opportunities from the comfort of their home or office. JUnE wEbInAR – yOUR MOdERn AwARd ExPLAInEd The topic for the webinar ‘Your modern award explained’ held on Tuesday, 28 June 2011, was presented by David Wilkinson, General Manager, Industrial Relations, Wentworth Advantage. David manages the ADA HR Advisory Service and specialised consulting projects at Wentworth Advantage. The ADA HR Advisory Service provides this member-based service to assist members in improving their staff management and gain a competitive edge. It is a very cost-effective alternative to employing your own HR/IR professional. The webinar presentation covered aspects of the modern Health Professional and Support Services Award 2010 and outlined the 10 minimum standards under the National Employment Standards (NES) that apply to national system employees. The presentation afforded members the opportunity to participate in discussion of a relevant topic with a significant proportion of information relating to the rights of members. The provision of a quiz and feedback form at the conclusion of each session has provided the ADA with valued feedback pertaining to the needs of our membership regarding CPD. It was pleasing to note that on this occasion we received 100% exit quiz completion on this topic immediately following the webinar session, indicating members value the service and are more than willing to provide purposeful feedback such as, “Excellent choice of webinar topic, a lot of employers turn a blind eye on this subject matter”; “These webinars are a superb medium, keep them coming”; “Learning has never been more flexible”. RuRAL AnD RemOte WeBinAR PARtiCiPAtiOn Online communication for training, education and development Our feedback survey also confirmed that of those who attended this webinar, only 13.3% of members advised they had attended other presentations on this subject. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our members who are continuing to participate in these rural and remote education seminars. Your support and enthusiasm has been much appreciated. From my own point of view, it is exciting to be part of the ADA team that is involved in this 21st century technology member service. Carole Nestor Producer POST-wEbInAR RECORdInGS And SLIdE PRESEnTATIOnS Members are reminded that post webinar recordings and slide presentations, if agreed by the presenter, are available on the ADA Inc. members’ website. These narratives are also very useful for accruing CPD hours as well as for education benefits. Please contact Ms Carole Nestor, Producer or the Marketing Team for further information or support issues on 02 9906 4412. David Wilkinson with Barbara Peatman, CPD Committee Secretary.
